It's walkable; there's public transportation but I didn't need it for my destinations.
There are TONS of thing to do including many things that have nothing to do with railroads or the Civil War. I came in the 70's and that was all I remember; there are fabulous art museums and other cool things to do.
If this is you, be sure to try these. OF course there are the big places everyone knows, but these are also fantastic.
Hunter Museum
Houston Museum
Riverwalk and Sculpture Garden

Duck Boats. Great for your first thing, as it drives around town a bit then in the water; lots of history and local color. ALL children on my boat got a chance to steer!

Tow Truck Museum (really!)
Incline Railroad
Naught Cat Cafe (not a strip club)

Great city for families.
Great city for families. Lots of activities for the kids, we did the incline and a baseball game. But there is also a zoo, museums, and an amusement park close by. The big park with the carousel and fountain is fun, there’s also a pedestrian bridge where live street performers will set up and you can walk across the bridge from one side of the river to the other. There is a lot of history here. Wish we had more time to go to Ruby Falls. Lots of restaurant options.

Really enjoyed Rock City, will visit again.
Really enjoyed Rock City, will visit again. Dining options are very average. Interstate traffic was fairly busy and can be confusing. One or two days is plenty of time to see everything. Downtown parking is limited and you have to pay.

I booked a four-night stay from April 11th to 15th through booking, and then extended it to one night. I kept booking and it was stated that the original stay was for one night, so the total would be five nights. As a result, your hotel paid me more money. Why can I be charged repeatedly for one night? I hope this charge will be refunded.

We were there 3 days and loved it.
We were there 3 days and loved it. We went on the Thursday - Saturday of spring break. We had to pre-purchase all our events because it was busy. Our favorite thing was renting electric scooters & touring downtown. We also went to the incline railway, an escape room on a train car, rode an actual train & visited Naughty Cat Cafe. There you can enjoy a coffee while you pet cats up for adoption. Plenty of great places to eat, although we stuck to the chain restaurants. We didn't have enough time in our trip to see all the great attractions available. The only downside was traffic. I-24 & I-75 were busy, but anyone from Atlanta will not see it as a problem.
Loved this hotel. Location was perfect for walking to all the downtown Chattanooga sites and attractions. The hotel had a cool vibe, recently renovated, clean, and a very friendly staff. On site was a very popular dive bar (with live music) and a very popular 24 hour diner. The diner had dangerously delicious desserts. Make sure to indulge in some of those. We would absolutely stay here again, and recommend that you do too.
We absolutely loved the Read House! The staff were fabulous, the room was sumptuous and silent (we opted to upgrade), the bartender superb, and we loved the location. We'd never been to Chattanooga and intended to only stay a single night, but the Read House was so fantastic, we opted to stay an extra night. It was also great value given the level of luxury, space, and service.
Outstanding views over the Tennessee River and city.., very friendly staff, comfortable rooms with better showers than most. Swimming in the pool in the evening a real joy. Would definitely book again if in the area. The room was scrupulously clean, unlike all the chain hotels we've used. It is ideally placed between Chattanooga and Ruby Falls etc.
The location was perfect for us. Truly everything we visited Chattanooga to do was within a 10-15 minute commute. Ruby Falls, Raccoon Mountain Caverns and Rock City were what we came to do. Walmart is right across the road for anything you might need. Urgent Care is also across the road (2min drive) from the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay.
Location is great, just off the major highways. Staff are extremely friendly. Hotel is safe with all amenities.
Free breakfast is wonderful. Fresh eggs, sausages patties and bacon. Toast, cereal, fruit, pancakes etc….
Shower was hot, could be more powerful but that’s personal preference.
TV although large 42”, the picture shown is only 32”.
This was the second time we have stayed at this facility this year. It has become our 'go to' place when visiting Chattanooga. The location is great, close to the interstate, shopping, and restaurants. The breakfast is one of the best we have experienced at any hotel/motel and would put many restaurants in our area to shame.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff. We arrived a few hours early and were able to check in straight away. Free shuttle to downtown just outside the hotel. Food options just across the road. Innside cafe was a good option for breakfast. Didn’t get round to finding the pool.
Super clean and beautiful hotel. Loved the unique decor, and it was very convenient for visiting Rock City as well as easy to find when you’re not familiar with the area. Staff went above and beyond. Would definitely stay here again if I am back in Chattanooga.
The hotel was exceptionally clean, bedroom was the great value. Extremely safe location can't wait to come back. Staying up at Lookout Mountain was my best decision for a hotel stay in Chattanooga.. the below picture is the view from my hotel room
The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and it was walking distance to a lot of things Downtown. The prices of hotels in Chattanooga have gotten out of control at upwards of $450 a night and this hotel was more reasonable at $253.
I was there for a collectors show. I accidentally booked at the other Staybridge in Chattanooga. The staff at both motels were very accommodating in changing my reservation to the downtown Staybridge. Thanks for a great experience.
The room was clean and had everything we needed for our week long stay. The staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. We will absolutely stay here any time we visit Chattanooga in the future.
Breakfast was pretty good. The location is great for visiting Lookout Mountain, Ruby Falls, etc. It id not too far from Chattanooga either.
The hotel is either quite new or was recently remodeled.
The price wasn’t bad and it wasn’t far from the highway or downtown but if we return to the area we would pay more and stay somewhere else. Glad we arrived late and left early.
This hotel is right down from the Chattanooga Aquarium and Science Museum. There are many restaurants within walking distance and right by the bus service.
